This blog is a memorial to John (John H. Dyett, Jr.). Stories and inputs of all types are welcome. John hated the short days of winter and didn't like to do things in a hurry. We'll be celebrating his life on May 5, 2007.

I'm so happy and I feel so very blessed that I got to meet John. He was my neighbor - he bought the house next door to me and he never objected to all of the random projects I had going on. In fact, he had many random projects of his own - the agri-experiments involving mushrooms and old logs; the backyard chickens (first the four, and then the two replacements after a horrible midnight raid); questionably-valuable shaded compost boxes (he did that one for me); etc. I was also fortunate that John shared his excitement for all the details of nature and being alive with me - dropping off a bowl-ful of trumpet-shaped flowers from a tree in-between our houses (he said I worked too much & it was very important that I get to see how beautiful and fragrant they were); coming over to add a certain lunacy to our pumpkin-carving festivities by adding barbie-doll legs and a sardonic smile to his own jack-o-lantern; and of course popping over just in time for desert on the very few occassions when the light was on and I was actually using my kitchen & serving dinner in my dining room. John and his home were so full of life - from the tropical colors of each of his rooms, to all of the animals that patrolled the yard and (sometimes) escaped beyond. I can't imagine anyone else taking over that space and Christian & I will miss him very, very much.
John you are on my thoughts always and every time I tell people how you was I bring you back to life with your stories. I really miss you a lot and I regret not havin g keep in touch before. Farewell my friend you was like a father for me. Irving from Mexico. Kathy if you read this my email - is: irjperez@yahoo.com, I didn't know Kathy :( I feel terrible.
